Mama

My experiences while living with my mother and her Alzheimer's Disease.(her birthdate = January 2, 1925)

I just cannot seem to get Mama up and ready in time for church. She is either ready early and then goes back to bed or she sleeps late. Just can't seem to get our Sunday mornings on the right wavelength.

I will be leaving Friday for a much needed time away from Cedar Lane. Watch out Boston, here I come!

I think I may have run Michelle, my night person, off this morning. I think things are not as "wonderful" at home as she thought they would be so she has started staying longer and longer hours here at the house. I don't mind her staying, but I do mind being charged for her to sleep on the couch or visit with Beverly. I mentioned that to her when I got back from exercise at 9:30 this morning. She stormed out saying, "Well, I guess I know when I am not wanted!" Once before, she told me she cannot read my mind, but she does not seem to want to hear me, either!! Oh well, Beverly said she will pick up nights if Michelle doesn't calm down and show up for work. I will let her (and me) cool off and call her this evening.

We take Mama to Dr. Sacco tomorrow as a follow-up to her Emergency room visit on June 23. Mama had another small spell on Saturday morning, but it did not seem to drain her like the other ones. We have run out of the Plavix, but kind of hope we do not have to continue since Mama seems to bruise more easily than normal. Certainly do not want to get charged with Mama-abuse. That would be no fun at all!!!

Will see what Dr. Sacco has to say about everything. This is probably just part of the Alzheimer's, but it helps to hear that from a medical person.

Will write again tomorrow after our adventure to the doctor.

Hugs,

Dear All,

We made the weekend okay. Beverly came Friday and Saturday nights. Penny had Mama Saturday during the day. I had Mama Sunday until 11 that night when Michelle came in. Tommy called last night and asked what I did to celebrate the 4th. I told him I watched Mama go back and forth between her bed, the fridge, and the dining room all day long. She finally went to sleep around 8:30 Sunday night. Am not sure how long she slept because I was tuckered out myself.

This time next week, I will be finishing up our whirlwind tour of Boston. We get back sometime Monday night. I am looking forward to going.

Need to go check on my puppies. Beverly said they have been chasing tractors on the road. Not a good thing.

Hugs,
Connie
